Our Story
Some people open a food truck. I opened a piece of home.
I'm a first-generation American, born in the United States to a Cuban family with roots in Havana. I grew up in Miami and Hialeah surrounded by the food, the coffee, and the culture that shaped who I am. The smell of a cortadito in the morning, a Cuban sandwich pressed until golden, pastelitos fresh and warm — that wasn't just food growing up. That was family.
After high school I joined the United States Marine Corps, where I served for 12 years and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. The Marines taught me discipline, pride, and what it means to show up every single day no matter what.
When my time in the Corps ended, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Bring the flavors I grew up with — authentic, unapologetic Cuban food — to the community that welcomed me home.
Sergeant's Cuban Express is more than a food truck. It's a tribute to my family, my culture, and the country I was proud to serve.
